What is contract rolling and why it is so important to avoid it?

Reminder Red MarkerContract rolling is the process that is set in motion when a business energy contract reaches the end of its contract period. When notice to leave your current supplier is not served in time, as stated in the terms & conditions of a business energy contract, the business will be bound by the automatic renewal terms or be subject to deemed rates.
The end result is that the business will pay expensive, out of contract rates to their existing supplier. The supplier makes additional profit in this scenario and will usually be unprepared to renegotiate rates and terms – despite the market rates being significantly lower than the rates being charged.

What do you do if you find your contract has rolled?

If you find that your business rates are uncompetitive when compared to market rates, your contract may not have rolled. It may be that market prices have dropped since you fixed the price of your energy.
To see what your current contract status is, you can call us on 08444 120 002 and we will tell you where you are at with your current supplier. Whether your contract was ‘automatically renewed’ or you are eligible for lower prices.
If your contract is confirmed to have rolled on to out of contract rates, we can try and negotiate your terms with the existing supplier but you will not be able to leave this supplier until your new contract end date.
